Operating concept, characteristics of the data center, data backup/recovery
Technical operating description
Operating concept
- All systems are operated as virtual machines in virtualization clusters.
- Resources (RAM, CPU, storage and IO) are allocated according to actual requirements.
- The data storage of the production systems takes place centrally in a clustered RDBMS (2-node multi-master replication with node-local data storage). In addition, replication takes place on a separate third system, which is also used for data backup.

Data backup and restore
A distinction is made between the backup of databases and the backup of operating systems.
- The databases are replicated online semi-synchronously in parallel at two different locations.
- The databases are exported to a backup file once a day.
- The configuration files of the Scope application servers are backed up independently of each other on a daily basis and this backup is replicated to another location.
- The application servers are not backed up completely, as reinstalling the operating system takes significantly less time than restoring the operating system from a data backup.
- The primary backup takes place on hard disk storage system.
- The holding time of the primary fuses is 14 days.
- An additional tape backup of the primary backup files is made.
- We do documented restore tests which take place at least once in a year but usually more often. This tests can include a restore of single files or a whole system.
