Why do I need to log in to Scope after the computer has been in standby or sleep mode?
Scope requires an active internet connection to operate. If the connection is interrupted, users will need to log in again.
To avoid having to log in to Scope again after waking up your computer, follow these instructions for Windows 10, Windows 11, or macOS users.

Apple/Mac
For Mac users, ensuring that the internet connection remains active when the computer goes into sleep mode requires adjusting the energy settings. Here’s how to do it:
1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences)
- Click on the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
2. Navigate to Energy Settings
- In System Settings, go to Displays > Advanced.
- In System Preferences (older macOS versions), look for Energy Saver (or Battery on laptops).
3. Prevent the Computer from Sleeping
- macOS Ventura and later:
- Under the Advanced tab in Displays, enable the option "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off."
- Older macOS versions:
- For desktops: Drag the "Turn display off after" slider to your desired setting, but ensure "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off" is checked.
- For laptops: Adjust the sliders for both Battery and Power Adapter to prevent the computer from sleeping when idle.
4. Enable Wake for Network Access
- In Energy Saver or Battery settings, ensure that "Wake for network access" is enabled. This allows your Mac to wake up for network activity, ensuring that it stays connected even during sleep.
5. Check Power Nap Settings (for MacBooks)
- For MacBook users, under the Battery section, ensure "Enable Power Nap while on battery power" is checked. This allows your Mac to perform background activities like checking for emails and other network tasks while in sleep mode.
6. Save Settings
- Once you’ve adjusted these settings, simply close the window. The changes will take effect immediately.
By following these steps, your Mac will stay connected to the internet even when it goes into sleep mode, allowing you to maintain downloads or other network activities without interruption.
