What should I do when I get the notification "Record locked by user ..." ?
When working in Scope, you may see a notification that the "Record is locked by user YYY," indicating it is currently in use by another user, and you can only view it. This article explains how to resolve this issue.
Why does this message appear?
This notification is displayed when a user attempts to edit a record that is currently being modified by another Scope user. To maintain data integrity, Scope aims to prevent multiple users from editing the same record simultaneously, particularly for specific types of records such as Customs Declarations. The popup appears as follows:
How to solve this?
Please reach out to the user referenced in the message and inquire if he is able to close that particular record. It's possible that he has multiple records open simultaneously, which can be verified in the lower-left corner of the Scope Window.
Please choose the relevant record and then click on "Close" in the menu.
After the record is closed, you can open the record for editing.
Record is locked by myself?
When you receive a message stating that the record is locked by you, it likely means you were already working on that record, but your previous session in Scope ended unexpectedly.
This could happen if you had to terminate the Scope process on your computer or if the connection to the Scope server was lost. After restarting Scope and logging back in, the system may still recognize the locks from your earlier session. Consequently, when you attempt to edit the same record, you may encounter the message indicating that the record is locked by you.
In this situation, please wait for 15 minutes; during this time, Scope will automatically check for any outstanding locks from ended sessions and remove them. After this period, you can try again.
If the locked message continues to appear, please reach out to support by submitting a ticket (F12 or menu/Service Request).
