Charge types (Master Data > Finance > Charge Types) cannot be deleted as the information must remain in the system (e.g. cancellation of a receipt, jobcosting).
Solution: If a charge type may no longer be used, the validity period should be changed accordingly in order to deactivate it. 
The cost element is than no longer visible to the user when searching and can no longer be used when creating receipts .
