      Letter of Indemnity (LOI)

      The Letter of Indemnity (LOI) is a document that contractually obligates the shipper to assume responsibility for loss or damage resulting from a breach of contract.

      An LOI is used in cases where the goods arrive at the port of destination before the original bill of lading.
